Alhaj Engr. Md. Towhidur Rahman was elected unanimously as Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited in the 104th meeting of the Board of Directors held on June 03, 2009 at its board room, presided over by Alhaj Akkas Uddin Mollah. In the same meeting, Alhaj Mohiuddin Ahmed and Alhaj Md. Sanaullah Shahid were elected unanimously as the Vice Chairmen of the bank.

The elected Chairman Engineer Md. Towhidur Rahman, CIP is a renowned industrailist and businessman and was born in a respectable muslim family of Patuakhali District. He obtained his “Engineering Specialist” qualification from Europe and gathered vast knowledge and experience in Industrial Management, Administration, Quality Control etc. He also attended a number of training programs of EEC-ASIA Economic Co-operation and export fair/seminars etc. in other countries of the world. For his noteable contribution to exports, he was selected CIP by the Government for last 12 years. He was also awarded with the Export Trophy in 1998 for his contribution as one of the best exporters of the country. Mr. Towhidur Rahman is the Chairman and Managing Director of Fresh Foods Limited, Sea Fresh Limited and Libas Textiles Ltd., Managing Director of Fresh Trading Ltd., Chairman of Euro-Trend Ltd. and Director of Takaful Islami Insurance Co. Ltd. He is the member of the Governing Council of Prime University, Dhaka and Founder President of Alhaj Jalaluddin College, Patuakhali. He has kept himself socially very active and dedicated to many humanitarian issues and was awarded with several Awards and gold Medal.

Newly elected Vice Chairman of the Bank renowned industrailist and businessman Alhaj Mohiuddin Ahmed was born in a noble muslim family at Bangshal, the old city of Dhaka. After completing education, he started his business in 1973 and made immense contribution to the national economy. He is the Chairman of Rupsha Trading Corporation, Mohiuddin & Company and Pacific Automobiles. He is the Sponsor Shareholder of Islami Insurance Company Ltd. He is engaged in automobile business over three decades. Mr. Mohiuddin is a social worker and a man of pleasant personality.

The other Vice Chairman Alhaj Md. Sanaullah Shahid was born in a noble Muslim family in Dhaka. He obtained B.A (Hons) Degree in Management from Jagannath University College and started his business in 1981. He is the Chairman of Electra International Ltd., Electra Telecom (BD) Ltd. and Ele Tel (BD) Ltd., Director of Federal Securities and Investment Ltd. and Partner of Sazawa Brothers. He is the sole distributor of Samsung brand home-appliences products and Samsung brand mobile phones in Bangladesh. He is also engaged in Banking, Capital Market and Chemical business.
